TONY RODRIGUEZ
FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 7

Safer streets. Affordable homes. Vibrant local businesses. Tony is running to put our community first and deliver results we can see and feel.

Tony’s plan

Common Sense. Common Ground.

🚓 Safe Streets and Victim’s Rights

Public safety must be a priority, and to do this, we must fully fund the LAPD and LAFD. More cops, more firefighters, fewer excuses. There must be consequences for criminals and a well-thought-out revision of our penal system..

🏠 Lower Your Taxes and Fewer Fees

The frivolous spending of taxpayer dollars on failed programs must end. Los Angeles is trailing behind in most quality-of-life categories — education, public safety, homelessness, cost of living, and too many others to list. Our representatives should be embarrassed, and perhaps we should be too for electing them.

🏪 Protect our Small Businesses

Protect our small businesses and allow them to thrive by eliminating overregulation, protecting them from criminals, and recognizing their importance to our communities. With the rise of online shopping, we are in danger of losing our small businesses that provide vital opportunities for local employment and community interaction.

⛺ Homelessness

Immediately stop funding programs that don’t work and redirect resources to tangible and essential community needs — including effective homeless solutions that benefit the homeless and taxpaying homeowners, renters, and business owners. Being homeless on the street is bad for the homeless and the city in general.

🐶 Animal Welfare

How we treat animals is a reflection of the kind of society we want to live in. The state of LA Animal Services is abysmal and must be addressed immediately through enforced spay/neuter regulations, volunteer animal rescue programs, and transparent, efficient funding. Time to explore a breeding moratorium.

👮 Public & Officer Safety

We must equip all officers who are expected to uphold the law with the tools necessary to ensure safety for themselves and the public. Administrators, desk officers, traffic police and our officers on the street must all be fully funded and supported. Allow our police to do their job and prosecutors to do theirs.

🏫 Education

Our LAUSD schools are for teaching our children. Their parents must retain the right to raise them. We are performing below national standards of education and this must be addressed immediately. We must allow teachers to get back to educating our young in order to provide them with the skills that they will need in order to thrive in a competitive and changing job market.

🧹 End Institutionalized and Normalized Corruption

Clean up LA City Hall! Audit and root out waste, inefficiency, nonprofit scams, and career politicians. Angelenos and our city come first. Establish a “public servant” culture in place of publicly funded “career politicians.”

🗽Immigration

Immigration is not a black and white issue. We have to find nuanced solutions to what is a complicated and fundamental issue. We must find a way for local, federal and state agencies to work together effectively.

🏡 Protecting Single Family Neighborhoods

There must be allowances for all kinds of neighborhoods in a city as big as Los Angeles. Single family neighborhoods are under threat by corporate buyers, Sacramento and out-of-state developers. We cannot destroy one community under the guise of uplifting another

👷 Infrastructure

Our city infrastructure needs serious attention. Our city is broke because of bad policy, noncompete contracts, and senseless overspending. The blame lies with our mayor and city council. We need transparent audits in all departments so that the taxpayer knows exactly where their money is being spent.

💸 Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency

Require public, transparent audits so taxpayers know exactly how their money is being spent and who is benefitting. The city can no longer insulate itself from the failures of LAHSA and other non-profits by perpetually passing the buck and shrugging their shoulders when the public asks where the money went.
